The Physical Society of Japan (JPS) sponsors two major academic meetings in the spring and fall of each year.
In the Annual Meetings, members in all 19 divisions of physics gather in one venue in attendance of a series of presentations. In the Fall/Spring Meetings (when the Annual Meeting takes place in the fall, there is a Spring Meeting. When the Annual Meeting takes place in the spring, there is a Fall Meeting), the venue is divided in two. In both meetings, as many as 5,000 researchers, educators and students participate in the over 4,000 presentations and debate sessions and symposia. During the meetings, an exhibition of research equipment and facilities and books related to physics is carried out, providing an important arena for the communication between the physics community and the equipment and publishing industries.
