KEKB加速器

　 KEKB加速器は1998年12月初めから2010年6月末まで稼働した。現在は、 SuperKEKBへのアップグレード工事のために運転を休止している。KEKBは 電子-陽電子の衝突型の加速器であり、その使命は大量のB中間子を生成し、 Belleと呼ばれる検出器を用いてその崩壊を調べることによりフレーバー 物理の実験的研究を行うことである。 本特集はKEKB加速器に関する全部で11編の論文から成り、KEKBの加速器 としての到達点と成果を記述するとともに、11年半の長きにわたるビーム 運転の経験を総括している。
